A Message from the Pastor
Heritage Baptist Church exists to fulfill God’s divine mandate for our particular congregation in Johnson City, the Tri-Cities and Northeast Tennessee. We are a God-centered congregation whose hearts and minds in love with God overflow with compassion for His creation via the great commission.
Essentially, we exist to:
Connect people to God,
Grow together and
Impact the world.
CGI is a reflection of God’s unique calling for Heritage. It provides direction and balance to our corporate ministries and individual lives.
At Heritage we are passionate about God’s supremacy in all things. We believe that the only way to know God is through Jesus Christ. This divine-human relationship is the ultimate purpose of life and the only means to abundant and eternal life (John 17:3). To know, understand, and agree with this God-glorifying purpose is what moves a person, couple or family to join God’s kingdom work through Heritage.
As you contemplate the Lord’s will for your life, it is my prayer that God will grant you the necessary discernment to fulfill your unique calling in His global redemptive scheme. May you find your greatest satisfaction in what can alone satisfy your truest needs and deepest longings, Jesus Christ Himself.

About Us
Heritage is not a unique congregation but it is distinct in Northeast Tennessee and the reason is two-fold.
First, Connect, Grow, Impact is our vision, mission, and strategy. Everything we do is strategically aligned to fulfill our single priority of connecting people to God, growing with others and impacting the world. The singular focus of CGI creates an effective synergy, determining how we employ our individual and corporate time, resources and effort.
Second, CGI is saturated by the gospel, family and mercy. These three values permeate every aspect of our vision, mission and strategy. We connect people to God through a gospel of “repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 20:21). We grow by reaching families, God’s primary historic and biblical means of propagating the gospel in the earth. We impact the world by displays of God’s abundant mercy toward one another and the world.
The vision of CGI and the values of GF&M (Gospel, family, & mercy) make Heritage a distinct congregation and give us the opportunity to uniquely minister to Northeast Tennessee.
